On Israel: 5G & Surveillance
“Leave no stone unturned” is the thought that comes to mind when we discuss 5G in Israel.
Outside my window, they are prepping for the installation of cameras in the new neighborhood we are renting in. We moved here unexpectedly, because the lack of affordable housing crisis has reached all but early homeowners. Since CovidMania set in, thousands of people from the center of the country have made a run for the hills. In tiny Israel, there simply aren't that many hills and there isn’t that far to run.
General inflation and cost of housing have spiked worldwide, yet pale in comparison to the truly mouth gaping prices demanded for products and services here - and what is given for them in return. That raw deal is no more visible than in the housing market.
The results of living under an unofficial mafia of the few who control the imports and exports of this country ensures Israelis pay dearly for the privilege of residing in the land of milk and honey.
And, it is a privilege. After all is said and done, I still believe that. But pay dearly, we do.
While there remain outlying neighborhoods not yet infested with the multiple direction cameras and facial recognition found across country, 5G towers have already arrived.
“Leave no stone unturned” is the thought that comes to mind when we discuss 5G in Israel.
One would be hard pressed to find an Israeli village or national park without at least one tower gracing its entrance.
As has been corroborated in multiple countries; the first 5G towers broke ground at the time healthy citizens the world over were put under an unprecedented house arrest for the deadliest virus ever to kill 0.03% of the population.
While in Israel we were tethered within 100 meters of our wee city apartments, clearly “essential” workers managed well enough to begin layering this fine land with the 5G towers that now sully our every viewpoint.
Israel’s towers come without frills or fake palm fronds, making it difficult to view their poking presence as other than a menacing system of weaponry.
Even the historic old city of Jerusalem, sacred to many, has had its skyline marked. Nor, we find, is there lingering sentimentality, as our precious few trees planted in the decades before are steadily chopped down to make way for those tower’s unobstructed access.
The word “overkill” is another that sits on the tongue.
Only a few years ago when you spoke that combo “5G” your tin foil hat glimmered and eyes around you rolled.
That was, before they began massing them on street corners across the globe and it became rather apparent that billions of dollars of infrastructure was not, in fact, so you could download your movies that 3.4 seconds faster.
No public official will definitively explain; What is 5G? What are its capabilities? Nor; What is its intended purpose?
The Modern Day ‘Space Race.’
Outside Israel, what was broadcast loud and clear to the world when Pfizer came to town was a surprise to many, but to some locals, it is understood that Israel has a recurring role as an experimental state; medical, technological and social - embracing that position again and again, here with 5G.
The U.S. is notably invested in Israel's 5G rollout and they assist in plans to see this country fully plugged in within a few short years.
One reason for their involvement might be the clash of the titans battle being waged between the U.S. and China. It is a winner takes all race for dominance in 5G, in Brain Computer Interface (BCI), and in a clandestine war for dominance in space.
China, that bastion of big brother government, is the current leader in 5G tech. There are more than 3 million 5G base stations across the world and almost half of them are located in China. This modern day “space race” is a technological manifest destiny for global supremacy and its battlefront spreads to proxies around the world, including israel.
Apparently, there is no time to lose.
The confusion today is great, for in the Hollywood films which groomed us for the dystopian future we march towards as if fait accompli, it was always clear who the good guy was. Today, as the moral high ground disintegrates under increasing human rights violations, it's simply a battle for who is crowned king over his version of ill fated civilization.
Israel's previous communications minister, Yoaz Hendel crystallized this understanding, stating; “We are currently in a new, unfamiliar type of war – a 5G cold war.”
Israel has been selling its key ports, land, and food production factories to the Chinese in disastrously short sighted deals. US Secretary of state Antony Blinken has warned Israel of the dangers of colluding with China and in particular allowing them to invest in Israeli infrastructure and hi-tech of which has well established concerns of Chinese backdoor entry. Our government walks a highwire balancing it’s close relationships with both Washington and Beijing.
As they pave the way for country wide deployment, the Israeli government has already run six rounds of grant handouts to fund start-up companies and developers that operate in a 5G network environment. Pointing to the myriad of improvements we can soon look forward to, our government continues to announce additional millions toward those initiatives.
Alarmingly, the breakneck pace is such that in 2021, “Cellcom”, Israel's largest cellular provider, refused to hand over the locations of their 5G towers to the Ministry of Environmental protection.
But, here’s the thing, Israel also ranks *first in the world* for Fiber Optic cable internet deployment. A service being actively pushed by all the country’s leading providers.
Pray tell, if we all have whip fast fiber net, for what precisely do we need 5G?
Weapons Grade Frequencies and Health.
The cynical assembling of towers around and on the roofs of schools, hospitals, hotels, commercial centers and neighborhoods advances in an all but unchallenged frenzy. An actual pandemic of cascading symptoms of infection and debilitating health can be evidenced across age, sector, and class - even for those who have not rolled up their sleeves for injections.
Is there anyone who doesn’t complain of near constant exhaustion and brain fog anymore?
Our personal experience in the past three years has been a calculable deterioration of health and an acceleration of aging. Whether it is occuring as a result of whatever is sullying our once blue skies and creating exceptional weather patterns or whether it is the overwhelming load of new toxins introduced to this closely living population since the five times jabbing of Pfizer special ( now onto #6 with a ‘Moderna’ twist) - these factors are combining with the relentless radiating of our bodies.
As if on cue, we can anecdotally track complaints across country when a wave of infections reoccur - We are experiencing an endless loop of low resolution health, despite our efforts.
Experts say that 5G bandwidth ranges from six hundred megahertz (600mhz) to 300,000 mhz (also known as 300 gigahertz 300ghz). For comparison, this is more than 100 times higher than current 4G networks which usually work on 2.5ghz.
Have you heard of active denial technology? It is what they call “non-lethal directed-energy”, a weapon apparently developed by the U.S. military for crowd control.
It works by transmitting waves that can penetrate 1/64 of an inch into the skin, quickly heating the skin's surface and producing a burning sensation. This “heat ray” transmits waves at 95-ghz and although 5G is currently operating at lower bands there are plans for 5G tech to use 95ghz or higher.
Higher frequencies are more dangerous but are able to travel only short distances. In order to penetrate solid objects such as trees, walls, etc, their signals must be emassed.
This is the reason for clustering cell towers together.
The Israeli government recently opened up new bands, jumping from the current existing 3.5ghz to 26ghz, inching closer to levels associated with weapon grade frequencies.
As installation of 5G began worldwide, it became apparent that the rollout was not only unregulated, but even rudimentary research and safety measures had not been established.
During a 2019 U.S. congressional hearing the industry was forced to admit they had not conducted independent safety studies whatsoever on the effects of 5G, and instead passed the buck onto the fda. Why does the FDA claim ingeniously there is nothing of concern while independent scientists of multiple fields the world over are sounding the alarm?
5G, like many of today’s innovations, have local, national and global repercussions which are being built on the FDA’S house of cards while they patently fail to fulfill their charge.
Those who enable this tech will not be able to eschew the profound impact of immersion in the powerful and relentless bouncing of electromagnetic fields upon our bodies and minds indefinitely. We see all life on earth is being demonstrably affected, certainly we beings created largely of water.
Thankfully, it is one of life's formulas that where there is potential for damage there is also potential for healing.
It is the wild card of man which these technologies attempt to hammer out to make us predictable and within means of control. Human Will can be mightily suppressed, but they will never succeed in eliminating the unbridled. We The People will create the methodologies to find our way through to functioning health.
Water. Ancient, universal water, that which stores memory, emotion, and consciousness, is one direction to look.
Surveillance.
Israel, like any and every sovereign nation, has legitimate reasoning for building tools to defend itself. It may not come as a shock that there are no few people who wish to see this country - for some - the Jewish people as a whole, driven into the sea. Israel's citizens have experienced terrorism as a constant and devastating part of life. It is an embedded thorn that has infected all branches of our society until rot has set in.
I put here neither excuse nor defense. whatever has come before or after - terrorism is our reality. In that reality we who face it on the ground understand up close the need for defenses.
Israelis are intimately acquainted with the ease with which our powers that be bastardize that legitimacy.
I recently came upon an article author David Grossman wrote in the days following 9/11. In addition to painfully prescient comments about the surveillance and security measures we would, and have indeed since encountered, he said this;
“It is not only countries that will be trapped by the security networks they use to protect “normal life” (except that life long ago stopped being normal). This coarse, stiff veneer will also coat the individual soul, the soul of each human being. That is the immediate result of living in fear, in suspicion of every unfamiliar person. it is the way every normal person defends himself against the pain of what is liable to be taken from him at any moment. it is the inability to believe in normalcy even for a minute.
Every habitual sequence of events is but an illusion, and he who is tempted to believe in it will not be prepared for the blow when it comes. maybe that is the worst thing of all - the person who lives for a time in the shadow of terror no longer knows how enslaved he has become to the struggle for survival, and how much he is, in fact, already a victim.``
It did not take long for “legitimate reasoning” to sour.
Lawful citizens who have committed no crime before or since are today continuously surveilled for the guarantee of a safety that has never been further out of reach.
There is a word for these conditions - it is “prison”.
That this is occurring in precisely the nations grown from the seed of promise that free speech was the essential building block of a free society should not elude us.
We experience in full spectrum the consequences of discarding those values as our vital freedoms of bodily autonomy, speech, and the precious human right to privacy are usurped.
Is the inevitable result of surveillance technology that it will sooner than later come to consume its own?
In the West Bank, Israel has employed the use of the “Wolf Pack” system, a facial recognition database which stores the profiles of each and every resident using a color coded system.
“Red Wolf” notifies who is free to move though checkpoints and who is not. The Blue Wolf program enables facial recognition via smartphones for use by soldiers and security services. Surveillance tools such as those that had their pilot run in the West Bank are today being legislated for use on all citizens, as always, under the guise of fighting crime.
This is the predictable snowballing of outsized control.
In 2020, it was exposed that the Israeli police has been storing the data of all vehicle movement in a massive shadowy database.
The police admitted that there was zero oversight on the use of this data. Then police chief Kobi Shabtai stated that when they did eventually implement internal regulation - they wouldn't be notifying the public of how.
The official “Hawk-Eye Program” pitch is that it was installed to retroactively identify terror and crime suspects. “for your safety”, et al.
While warrants are still required for phone tracking, the use of IPR cameras have allowed Israeli police to enthusiastically track all road activity across the country, potentially for years, before the practice was leaked to the public.
“The Clinic for Privacy at Tel Aviv University” and “The Association for Civil Rights in Israel” have launched a legal challenge against the use of “Hawk Eye” up to the Israeli Supreme Court. The court ruled its use illegal and demanded the end of the practice unless the government enacted legislation.
And so, embracing the opportunity, the current government is, at the time of this writing, in process of approving legislation that would not only legalize use of the “Hawk Eye” program, but additionally authorize the placement of facial recognition cameras in public spaces across the country under the “Proposed Law to Amend the Police Ordinance Bill” (Biometric Photography System). This law has been dubbed, “Big Brother in the public space”. it would allow the photographing and identification of individual faces into its database and also track those already there in real time. further, it will authorize the use of cameras which move while monitoring you remotely.
This comes at the same time some government ministers are demanding security agencies - whose mandate has previously been to protect Israelis from foreign adversaries and terrorism - now begin investigating and providing surveillance of Israeli citizens - once again, under the guise of combating crime.
Unfortunately, despite these unprecedented and undemocratic measures, they have provided no perceptible decrease in criminal activity.
Israel is home to the “NSO group”, a private cyber intelligence company who has developed a series of tools to extract private information from mobile devices. The company became infamous for developing “Pegasus”.
Pegasus, is a powerful covert spyware which effectively takes control of a subject’s phone. It can harvest data including text messages, calls, passwords, and location. It can access microphones and cameras and it can extract information from phone applications, all without the user’s knowledge, for it does not require even the wrong click of a link for access.
Although Pegasus software is advertised “as a crime fighting tool”, it is known that governments around the world have used it illegally to spy on journalists, lawyers, political dissidents, and human rights activists.
In use since at least 2016, it is believed that hundreds of citizens have been targeted using Pegasus. The Israeli government has set up a committee to investigate the police force’s use of the surveillance apparatus. Ironically, former top security officials claim that rather than concern over Pegasus’ use, the committee's investigation seeks to undermine the criminal trials against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Israel legislated the “wiretapping law” in 1979 to regulate state surveillance. In 2021, the Attorney General's office posited that this law sufficiently covered use of spyware. However, the campaigners who recently petitioned the Supreme Court argued the “Wiretapping Law” does not address advances in modern technology, including spyware and malware, and the government should therefore cease its use of these invasive tools.
Theirs is a modus operandi we see on repeat. A surveillance method is employed illegally until it is exposed to the public. The government then puts forth legislation, perhaps during which a tragic event occurs to hasten the debate and offer the obvious solution..the surveillance tool in question.
It's a theory, anyhow.
Last week five members of the same family were gunned down in broad daylight. A tragedy. and the solution our leaders offered to stop the wave of crime? Why Pegasus, of course, which is still illegal.
“Legalizing” the criminal continues at a whack a mole pace. In March 2023, a highly contested “Bill of Powers for the Collection and Diagnosis of Passenger Data Entering and Leaving Israel” passed in the Knesset. It permits the international sharing of highly sensitive personal and medical data such as credit card details, itinerary, and travel history of every airplane passenger into a colossal database. It is no secret that Israel was allowed entry into the U.S. Visa Waiver Program (VWP) in return for passing the bill.
In China, a Digital ID is now being linked to DNA. That means you cannot escape identification. if you have offended the ever changing law du jour, it may well result in access to services and purchasing or to your bank account itself being denied. In the West Bank accounts of citizens, including public figures, who have voiced opposition to government dictates have already been blocked.
Is this a future we too soon face?
As surveillance tech is continuously developed there will be increasingly efficient methods of intruding on the corners of solitude which we were intended to experience alone.
Would that we threw our cellphones into the sea instead or risk loss of our freedoms for a very long time.
Smart Cities & Internet of Things.
The changes civilization is being herded towards are developing at an exponential rate. It is the 5G network that will serve as host to connect all we transact with on the internet of things and the internet of bodies to bring a panopticon to life.
Current Israeli communications minister Shlomo Karhi boasts that 5G will boost the Israeli economy by enabling our dystopian future of “autonomous transportation, smart cities, remote medicine, augmented and virtual reality and artificial intelligence.”
In guidelines by Israel's national cyber directorate regarding the use of security cameras to, once again, “reduce crime”, they stated, “the use of security cameras is a cornerstone of the "Smart Cities" concept, which significantly increases the number of information consumers and the scope of deployment. It is customary to refer to the security cameras as an internet of things (iot) type device, and this is when many users link these devices to the internet network. As a result, these devices may be accessible from anywhere and at any time (Any Time Any Place), which makes them an attractive target for attackers in cyberspace.”
Raanana stands out in its enthusiastic promotion of the smart city model though one could not fail to credit also Eilat and Beer Sheva for embracing these initiatives. Raanana mayor, Haim Broida, who spoke out against invasive surveillance before taking office, later became its champion having implemented, among others, a smart waste management system which uses underground sensors to detect when a “trash bin needs to be emptied” and in the sewage system “to warn of flooding”.
Motorola provided the network whose sensors connect not only to surrounding cameras, but simultaneously send alerts to a call center as well. It's presently used to fine negligent dog walkers who don't clean up after their pet, but it was also reported Raanana’s biometric cameras assisted the municipality to identify individuals who hung posters opposing the good mayor himself.
Noting the pattern of cities shilling for big brother’s opportunities throughout Israel and abroad, we see a recurring theme indicating municipalities may be offered financial incentive to pilot programs that adopt the smart city model.
Your fridge and your thermostat, your car and the traffic signals themselves will be connected on the internet of things in the smart city, but it doesn't end there.
What then of the internet of bodies?
Bioconvergence.
Many were shocked at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's unabashed statements this year in an interview with Jordan Peterson; there he announced plans for a national genomic database which would be sold to the highest paying industry.
In reality, there wasn’t much news to this disclosure as he had declared his intentions in Davos in 2018. As has become a theme with our world leaders, they reveal their plans to the public only after they’re well underway.
Back in 2018, with intentions to make “Digital Health the third major growth driver for the Israeli economy”, the government invested 1 billion shekels into a “National Digital Health Plan”. They then began gathering the gene sequencing of 100 thousand people in creation of today’s genomic and clinical medical database infrastructure called the “Mosaic Project”. It now equips the digital health initiatives used throughout the health system, academia, and industry.
Our Glorious Leader continues to use the people and resources of this land as pawns to play global games.
As mad science meets profiteering, it would come as no surprise if all the furious swabbing of semitic nostrils from Metula to Eilat provided not only national behaviour modification, but a significant boost to fill the database in construction.
Israel has a unique relationship with the W.H.O., the entity who brazenly acts to centralize its power through that other catch all phrase, “public health”.
Our twenty+ years of a digital health recording system, the second largest in the world, hosts the complete medical records, from birth to death, of nearly every citizen and has positioned Israel as exceptionally useful to the W.H.O..
This digital system tracks each interaction with the branches of healthcare throughout the country and has matured into a data gold mine.
It is for this asset the W.H.O. has contracted Israel to be the forerunner of E-health.
It is here where human experimentation reaches peak abomination. Getting its official momentum in 2020, “Bioconvergence” is the whitewashed title for the field merging engineering and biology.
Israel is chosen to create the nuts and bolts of the Transhumanist dream which aims to make the fusion of man and machine a reality within the next ten years time.
When they speak of the “Internet of Bodies”, it is because your inner system of organ functions will also be part of the control grid.
When Bioconvergence announces “Personalized Medicine”, let us illustrate the unprecedented; they mean, as advertised, that bio-sensors will be implanted into your body for constant monitoring of its organs and systems.
That's your early detection.
“Nano Ghost”, smart Nano Robots, are the drug-delivery technology - already in use they say - that transports stem cells directly to site, inside the chosen organ.
“Cyborg Tissues” are 3d bioprinted tissues that combine with nanobots to grow tissues which will be implanted into the organ with promised “enhanced qualities”.
While "Organ-on-a-Chip" technology allows the growth of human tissues with a specific organ function outside the body - such as on a plastic chip (there are a variety of chips in development) - in order to speed up drug testing and lower its cost.
Because, and let us be soberly clear, the bottom line is always profit - profit of money, profit of data to educate AI, and profit of centralized control.
Alongside Biotechnology, Gene Therapy - wouldn't you know it - and Synthetic Biology will be employed. Synthetic biology allows, among others, DNA sequencing and the creation and writing of new genes.
Before us lies an uncharted industry of technologies, cheaper to tweak, just awaiting implementation en masse.
We have repeated it since Netanyahu announced in January 2021 that we’d all be jabbed “By March”; Corona theater was the great bait and switch, shifting us from true vaccines problematic enough, to mRNA tech and only the beginning.
This is the decimation of our body’s ancient systems as well as our self determination - One may no longer decide to eat right and exercise - the nano bot will instruct your organs what to do.
If it isn’t enough to imagine this technology in the hands of governments who have unveiled their single minded massing of power, Can we imagine what havoc the unelected criminal could reap upon a biochip linked to a third party server?
Even without sentimentality for the violations of sacred privacy and personal growth - obvious potential for misuse and abuse - simply built-in fallible man and machine - points us towards a destruction of our human elements on a scale we have not yet experienced and what the imagination cannot yet name.
Treacherously short sighted power driven mad men advance a gluttonous power grab all but without regulation.
Like the surveillance capitalism before it, this field is the horseless carriage being introduced to humanity.
It is the future of weaponry, of slavery, of the commoditization of the regenerative systems of body and planet.
Those in Israel who believe in the integral connection of land, people, and tradition on this piece of earth could never have imagined the shape this battle would take, in this of all places.
We understand that, ultimately, there is nowhere to run.
Moreso, we do not give up on the potential that after all belongs to a people and not its government.
Israel represents a microcosm snapshot for all that the world suffers but cannot take in at a glance. We stand on the precipice as does all of civilization. But, it is happening here so fast. As our resources - human and other - are being mined into dust, the state that promised a refuge of old has become the most prominent threat to us yet.
The Israel that looms today is not the living Judaism promised to our ancestors. Though Israel, you see, is challenging to understand Israel clearly. Though young, it carries with it the lengthy history and trauma of this ancient people. Antisemitism saw its most extraordinary culmination in the Holocaust, but from the dark ages to the crusades, Jews carry a dog whistle sensitivity of being prey.
There is a measure of insecurity of identity in Israel's modern personification, surrounded as it is by actively hostile neighbors and not distant enough memories of mass murders. it mingles with the outsized strength of today's defenses that often twist into the grotesque and now threaten to consume its own - as do all powers that grow beyond its need.
Living on constant alert has changed the face of optimistic Israel who becomes each year increasingly callous, cynical, and bullish.
So much beauty and pain and mismanagement in this tiny country whose name doesn't fit on its crescent shaped space on the map.
The weaponization of terms on both fences, such as Anti Semitism and Anti Zionism, often target those who speak uncomfortable truths. But, they first undermine the Jewish people who are today experiencing a flooding of hate that most of us had not known in our lifetimes. So virulent and widespread is the disdain for Israel, many forget to acknowledge the experience of the flesh and blood bodies who live here.
Incomprehensible terrorism and hatred has shaped this people’s life experience and we deserve context and to tell our own story - without predetermined conclusion.
If Never Again Is Now but it does nothing to enrich the dialogue or understanding of the experience of the Jews and others, then what has in fact been accomplished?
The Israeli government has and continues to make choices that ultimately sabotage its own future. Their actions must be weighed alongside those of the governments across the globe.
The people whom they rule over, who receive the brunt force of their leaders, must be considered for who they are culturally and as individuals.
We share the human dichotomy of grace and tragic fallibility and we share the driving desire for vital life and self determination.
If we are not capable of separating the Israeli people, the Jewish people, from their government just as we may do so for citizens of, say, Iran or Russia, then the flaw is not from outside, but from within.
In February 2021, witnessing the destruction of values we built our lives upon, I inadvertently made a call to the world; a still small voice burst out - and lo behold - it was received by so many.
For the first time, and in a way that had not happened before it, Israel was united with the rest of the world in a profoundly human way.
It was the moment when a long sat potential became viable.
when, in sharing the pain of destruction of our lives as we knew them, we could see one another as individuals, as holders of hearts and souls.
Above all throughout these treacherous past four years it has been demanded of us to define what it is that truly makes us human.
What is the common denominator that all people share?
It is my opinion that the question we asked long ago was answered then. It is our empathy - above all else - that makes us human, that makes us humane, that drives us on to do, and become, and to do better.
As the transhumanist tinkerings become increasingly complex, it is this empathy, this soft tissue of humanity that we will need to maintain its shape.
It is empathy which we see clearly our ‘powers that be’ so breathtakingly lack - so far have they removed themselves from our great throbbing mass of humanity - they have forgotten themselves how to be human.
It is this primary human empathy that we must continue to call out to act now and today with integrity and with all we have learned of the world and of one another.
This is the time and it is we who are being called.

October 2023 / Tishrei תשפ׳ד
Epilogue:
Quite literally, on the day I intended to forward this article, an attack of incalculable brutality was executed, targeting women and children and the elderly in Israel.
This attack occurred despite all we have discussed here; an attack of unprecedented savagery and of unprecedented access to its prey.
I find myself writing in echo of the quote we placed by David Grossman, above.
Our world has changed, again. We have been offered up, again.
The illusions of safety we leaned upon, despite ourselves, evaporated in a boom.
In this new world, there is no longer an “over there”.
We, all of us, have only G-d and the potential that remains within us. Nothing more.
October 8, 2023
Clearly, we are all under attack. All humans, animals, plants, and even the sky itself. This is an all out war against our planet.
Excellent piece, Ilana. I'm having difficulty finding words, so I'll leave it at that.
